After weeks of breathless speculation from international tabloids and hundreds of photos of Kate Middleton holding a purse in front of her stomach, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have confirmed that Kate is officially knocked up.
“Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are very pleased to announce that The Duchess of Cambridge is expecting a baby,” the couple announced on their website Monday.
“The Duchess was admitted this afternoon to King Edward VII Hospital in Central London with Hyperemesis Gravidarum,” the site reads. The Duchess is expected to stay in the hospital for several days and “will require a period of rest thereafter,” which is a very syntactically British way to phrase something.
Hyperemesis Gravidarum — also known as “acute morning sickness” — “requires supplementary hydration and nutrients.”
