Tom Price, the conservative doctor and Republican congressman from Georgia, is actively considering a run in the Peach State for the U.S. Senate.

“Dr. Price is thankful for the support and encouragement he has received,” Price spokeswoman Ellen Carmichael said in an email to The Daily Caller. “He is speaking with a number of folks across the state of Georgia and listening to their observations and advice.”

Added Carmichael: “He’ll continue to listen and make a decision and announcement at the appropriate time.”

Saxby Chambliss, the Republican senator from Georgia, announced Friday he won’t seek another term in 2014.
