Sen. Marco “Hip to the Jive” Rubio brought some swagger to the Senate floor late Wednesday night during Sen. Rand Paul’s epic 13-hour filibuster by quoting Wiz Khalifa, Jay-Z and “The Godfather.”
Rubio took the podium and evoked “modern day poet” Wiz Khalifa’s song “Work Hard, Play Hard” by suggesting that his colleagues would rather be in their home states playing hard, but they were instead in Washington “working hard on this issue.” (The issue being drone strikes on American citizens.)
He then quoted “The Godfather” saying, “I’m going to make him an offer he can’t refuse” — “he” being President Obama.
Finally, Rubio quoted “another modern day poet by the name of Jay-Z” and his song “All About the Money”: “It’s funny what seven days can change — it was all good a week ago.”
