Some Americans are batshit crazy, a new poll suggests.
According to a Public Policy Polling (PPP) survey, 28 percent of American voters believe “that a secretive power elite with a globalist agenda is conspiring to eventually rule the world through an authoritarian world government, or New World Order.”
The poll also found that 13 percent of American voters believe that President Barack Obama is the anti-Christ, 14 percent feel the CIA was involved in distributing crack cocaine to Americans in the 1980s, 9 percent believe the government adds fluoride to America’s water supply for “sinister reasons” and 11 percent think the U.S. government “knowingly allowed the attacks on September 11th, 2001, to happen.”
Perhaps most surprisingly, only 4 percent of American voters said they believe shape-shifting lizard people “control our world by taking on human form and gaining political power to manipulate our societies.” In the lead-up to November’s presidential election, a major satirical expose by Daily Caller editors Jamie Weinstein and Will Rahn, “The Lizard King,” revealed that President Obama himself was shape-shifting lizard man.
PPP polled a total of 20 so-called conspiracies, including on such politically polarized issues as global warming and whether the administration of George W. Bush misled the public about Iraq having weapons of mass destruction.
A majority of Republicans responded saying they believe that global warming is a hoax, while a majority of Democrats said it wasn’t.

“Even crazy conspiracy theories are subject to partisan polarization, especially when there are political overtones involved,” Dean Debnam, president of Public Policy Polling, said in a statement. “But most Americans reject the wackier ideas out there about fake moon landings and shape-shifting lizards.”
The poll also asked Americans about aliens, whether Paul McCartney is really alive and the link between vaccinations and autism, among other topics.
The poll surveyed 1,247 registered voters and has a margin of error of 2.8 percent.
