You probably haven’t seen the following, because it’s an MSNBC promo. But it’s always instructive to listen to leftists when they tell you what they really “think.”
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N3qtpdSQox0“We have never invested as much in public education as we should have, because we’ve always had kind of a private notion of children. Your kid is yours, and totally your responsibility. We haven’t had a very collective notion of ‘These are our children.’ So part of it is, we have to break through our kind of private idea that kids belong to their parents, or kids belong to their families, and recognize that kids belong to whole communities. Once it’s everybody’s responsibility, and not just the household’s, then we start making better investments.”
Well, that makes sense. “Honor thy father and thy mother” is just crazy teabagger talk. Honor thy state, kids.
After all, America: If you have a family, you didn’t build that.
I have one question, though: Did that little boy in Maryland get suspended from school for chewing a Pop Tart into the shape of a gun because the community that owns him was making a good investment? And if you have time for a follow-up: What’s the intended return on that investment?

Update: Please be nice to Ms. Harris-Perry. Sounds like she’s had a rough couple of weeks:
@mharrisperry The important thing is to think of yourself as a victim.

Oh, and:
How does everyone feel about “Stranger Danger” for @mharrisperry‘s new nickname?

Ahem. That’s Melissa Stranger-Danger to you, wingnut.
Update: Over at Reason.com, Mike Riggs asks if this is the creepiest show promo MSNBC has ever run. No, but only because they used to employ Keith Olbermann.
