Tennessee state Rep. Jon Lundberg, a Republican, sponsored a joint resolution praising his own company for “furthering the public relations industry in the State of Tennessee and throughout the region, the nation, and the world.”

Lundberg is president of The Corporate Image, a public relations firm. His resolution, which was approved unanimously by both legislative chambers and currently awaits the governor’s signature, congratulates the company in the wake of its 20th anniversary. It also salutes Lundberg specifically:

“WHEREAS, The Corporate Image, Inc., is the largest media/public relations firm in the Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia region; and WHEREAS, current president, Jon C. Lundberg, founded The Corporate Image on March 2, 1993, in Virginia and relocated to Bristol, Tennessee, in 1995; and WHEREAS, a staunch advocate for the revitalization of its community’s downtown and  committed to its further development, The Corporate Image renovated a downtown building for its office space, growing a successful business in that location for sixteen years.”

The resolution also recognizes the company’s “outstanding service to clients,” “integrity and quality,” and “award-winning staff of specialists.”

A writer for the Nashville Scene called the resolution “shameless self-promotion.”

“It’s hard to beat state Rep. Jon Lundberg’s resolution heaping praise on himself and his own PR firm,” wrote Jeff Woods of the Nashville Scene.

Lundberg did not respond to requests for comment.
