The following tweet appeared on the AP’s Twitter feed earlier this afternoon:
This is a hoax. The account has been shut down (that’s from the Google cache, just a couple of minutes later).
The (at)AP twitter account has been hacked. A tweet about an attack at the White House is false. We will advise on acct. status.

Update: I don’t know how many Twitter accounts the AP has, but they’re now saying not to trust any of them.
All, AP’s Twitter accounts will be suspended until we can be assured of their security. Do not respond to any news posted by these accounts.
