1.) Bill Richardson, ethnic takfiri — Radical Islamists are known for practicing takfir, or the act of rejecting another Muslim’s faith for doing something the radicals see as un-Islamic. On Sunday, Bill Richardson became an ethnic takfiri when he tried to reject Ted Cruz’s ethnicity for his stance on immigration. TheDC’s Jeff Poor reports:

“Former Democratic New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson argued Sunday that Texas Republican Sen. Ted Cruz should not ‘be defined as a Hispanic’ because of his position on immigration reform. … ‘He’s anti-immigration,’ Richardson said. ‘Almost every Hispanic in the country wants to see immigration reform. No, I don’t think he should be defined as a Hispanic. He’s a politician from Texas, a conservative state. And I respect Texas’ choice. But what I don’t like is when you try to get things done, it’s OK to be strong and state your views, your ideology. But I’ve seen him demean the office, be rude to other senators, not be part of, I think, the civility that is really needed in Washington.'”

All you need to know about Bill Richardson is that when he ran for president in 2008, he made Joe Biden look like a genius.

2.) And the truth will set you free — More information is coming out on the 2012 Benghazi terrorist attack and it’s not making the White House look good. TheDC’s Jeff Poor reports:

“On Sunday’s broadcast of CBS’s ‘Face the Nation,’ House Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa gave host Bob Schieffer a look at what he had uncovered concerning the attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Libya, last September. In the days following the attack, the Obama administration insisted it was a protest that led to the murder of then-U.S. ambassador Christopher Stevens. But according to testimony brought to the set by Issa, the administration appeared to know almost immediately that the consulate had been attacked by terrorists. ‘I thought it was a terrorist attack from the get-go,’ Schieffer said, reading the testimony of Gregory Hicks, the deputy chief of mission at the U.S. embassy in Libya. “’I think everybody in the mission thought it was a terrorist attack from the beginning.'”

So why initially downplay the attack, Mr. President? Perhaps it didn’t fit with the narrative he was preaching on the campaign trail that al Qaida had been decimated.

3.) A resolute resolution — The horrific alleged crimes of abortionist Kermit Gosnell are now getting some senatorial attention. TheDC’s Caroline May

“As the jury in the trial of Philadelphia abortionist Kermit Gosnell resumes deliberation, Utah Republican Sen. Mike Lee is set to introduce a resolution Monday highlighting Gosnell’s alleged crimes and calling for more oversight of abortion practices and facilities. Lee’s resolution, obtained by The Daily Caller, focuses in large measure on the crimes for which Gosnell is being tried. It is entitled, ‘Expressing the sense of the Senate that Congress and the States should investigate and correct abusive, unsanitary, and illegal abortion practices.'”

4.) Why Watt? — President Obama’s nominee to be director of the Federal Housing Finance Agency may not be ideal. Charles Johnson reports for TheDC:

“Mel Watt, President Obama’s nominee for director of the Federal Housing Finance Agency, pushed government programs to help welfare recipients buy homes during the creation of the subprime mortgage bubble. Watt, a 20-year Member of Congress from North Carolina’s 12th district, also had a hand in programs allowing borrowers with poor credit to buy homes with no down payment. The American financial system was subsequently destroyed when millions of bad borrowers defaulted on their loans, setting off a market crash that wiped out nearly 40 percent of the net worth of Americans.”
