The New York Mets have caused a lot of head shaking in recent years, but yesterday it was for a great play rather than frequent losing.
Outfielder Juan Lagares made an amazing diving catch in yesterday’s game against the Pirates.
Check that, make that catches, plural…on the same play.
Charging a bloop hit, Lagares stretched out for the ball, making the initial catch before taking a bit of a tumble, having the ball pop loose into the air, and then re-catching it to secure the out, all while falling to the ground.
With Mets ace phenom Matt Harvey on the mound and this two-for-one catch special, Mets fans almost had something to cheer for before they lost 3-2 to the visiting Pirates.
