Michele Bachmann through the years [SLIDESHOW]

Rep. Michele Bachmann announced this week that she would not seek a fifth term in Congress. (RELATED: Michele Bachmann to retire from Congress in 2014 [VIDEO])

Bachmann has served as a representative of Minnesota’s 6th congressional district since 2007, and is the first Republican woman to represent the state in Congress.

After exiting the race for the Republican nomination in the 2012 presidential election, she returned to her post in Congress.

Here, we highlight Bachmann’s years of service.
