This morning, I told you about the confusion over Sen. Marco Rubio’s comments regarding legalization before border security, and how Rush Limbaugh was “disappointed” by that.
This was obviously problematic, inasmuch as Rubio is trying to sell immigration reform to conservatives, and Limbaugh is arguably the most powerful conservative opinion leader, at least, in terms of reaching grassroots conservatives.
Rubio apparently called Limbaugh this morning, and it sounds like it was a productive conversation. Limbaugh conceded that Rubio told him about the order of legalization before border security, and then explained Rubio’s calculus.
This is not to say that Limbaugh was converted, but — based on the Limbaugh’s tone — it sounds like Rubio was wise to reach out to him.
