A white male in his 60s reportedly shot and wounded four people in a rampage in Greenville, North Carolina Friday afternoon before being shot in the face by police.

The gunman shot and wounded a person at Greenville’s Kellum Law Firm at 11:50 am. He then crossed the busy five-lane street of Hooker Road, shot three people in a Wal-Mart parking lot and fired on police before running for his life. Police chased him and shot him in the face, according to witnesses.

All five people injured are expected to survive, according to Greenville Police Chief Hassan Aden, who held a 3 pm press conference on the shooting. Aden did not disclose the names of the shooter or his victims. The shooter is currently in a hospital. Aden could not confirm that the suspect was wearing body armor during the shooting.

New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s Mayors Against Illegal Guns Coalition, which was silent after this month’s deadly Santa Monica College shooting as the Obama administration’s surveillance scandals dominated the news cycle, has yet to release a gun control-themed statement about the shooting.
