Kanye West’s title of King of All the Assholes was sealed back in 2009 after he stormed the stage at the MTV Video Music Awards and took the microphone away from the nearly-as-insufferable Taylor Swift as she accepted an award.

There had been many instances of West’s douchebaggery before and since then, but that was probably the defining moment of his long, successful career as a professional jerk.

Many have wondered if someone can actually be that big of an asshole, and whether or not these stunts were all just for show.

It turns out that there is proof that the rapper is just as insane in private as he is in public.

Gawker obtained a leaked audio recording of West ranting about Swift, Beyonce, civil rights, racism and Elvis at a private dinner in 2009 after the VMA incident. Here is an excerpt of West’s unintelligible tirade (all transcription by Gawker):

I’m pushing the envelope! I wrote my fuckin’ ‘Run This Town’ verse for a fuckin’ month! When I heard Eminem’s verse on the Drake shit, I went back and rewrote my shit for two days. I canceled appointments to rewrite! I fuckin’ care! You know what I’m saying? And that’s what I’m saying. Because I did that, Taylor Swift cannot win over Beyoncé! Because I wrote my verse in two days, Taylor Swift cannot beat Beyoncé. As long as I’m alive! And if I’m alive, kill me then! Kill me then! As long as I’m alive, you gon’ have to deal with it. ‘Cause there ain’t gonna be no more motherfucking Elvises with no James Browns.

[A female voice asks, “Why are you so angry? What’s the anger?”] Because my mother got arrested for the fuckin’ sit-ins. My mother died for this fame shit! I moved to fuckin’ Hollywood chasing this shit. My mother died because of this shit. Fuck MTV.

By Kanye’s logic, he worked on the lyrics to his part in “Run This Town” for a month, because he fuckin’ cares. Despite working on the verse for a month, he actually finished it in two days, therefore Taylor Swift’s music video should not have won over Beyonce’s, which Kanye had absolutely nothing to do with.

Also, his mother participated in sit-ins during the Civil Rights Movement, which is why she died tragically during a plastic surgery procedure in 2007.

And according to Kanye, Kanye is either similar to or completely different from Elvis Presley and/ or James Brown.
