Footage captured in Egypt appears to show protesters posing for cameras in an attempt to simulate dramatic action shots for propaganda purposes.
The video, posted to Liveleak.com, comes as Arizona Republican Sen. John Mccain and South Carolina Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham have traveled to the region under the direction of President Barack Obama in an attempt to calm the situation.
Tensions have been rising since the Egyptian army overthrew the Muslim-backed government of Mohamed Morsi. Opinion has been split in Washington over how to refer to the army takeover of the government. Obama and White House press secretary Jay Carney have pointedly chosen not to refer to it as a coup. McCain, however told reporters on Tuesday “We’ve … said that the circumstances of [Morsi's] removal was a coup.”
