Things got a little weird at the Salina, Kansas city commissioners meeting Tuesday.

Kansas citizen Ray Hruska got into an argument with city commissioner and vice-mayor Aaron Householter, and Hruska threatened to call the councilman’s “daddy” to make him behave.

When Householter responded that his father is dead and he would need a Ouija board to contact him, Hruska took the statement literally.

An Ouija board, also known as a spirit board or a talking board, is a trademark of Hasboro and was popularized during the 1995 film, “Jumanji.”

Later during Tuesday’s meeting, Hruska claimed he used a board to actually speak with the Householter’s father.

“Contact was made using this Ouija board, and he responded with, he said, ‘Aaron, keep quiet,'” Hruska said.

“Really? I don’t think that’s exactly what my dad would say at all,” Householter retorted. “You obviously never knew him. I think he’d look at somebody like you and say, ‘Why do you even let these guys come to your meeting and speak?’ But unfortunately we have to let people like you speak, so here you are speaking.”

“Aaron, I wasn’t going to say this, but your granddaddy said, ‘Keep quiet,’ too,” Hruska responded.

After more back-and-forth, Householter declared he was finished with Hruska’s Ouija board shenanigans, and the meeting moderator, mayor Barbara V. Shirley moved the meeting forward.
