Oklahoma Republican Sen. Tom Coburn says it’s time for a new constitutional convention.

“I used to have a great fear of constitutional conventions,” Coburn said Wednesday at a Muskogee, Okla. town hall, according to the Tulsa World’s Randy Krehbiel. “I have a great fear now of not having one.”

Conservative radio host Mark Levin advocates for a constitutional convention in his new book, “The Liberty Amendments: Restoring the American Republic.” Krehbiel added that when Coburn touted Levin’s new book, it “drew the loudest applause and reaction” of Coburn’s Muskogee event.

However, while Levin advocates defunding Obamacare through a continuing resolution, Coburn assured the audience that he was “100 percent convinced” the tactic wouldn’t work.

“If you’re going to do that, you’d be better off to do it through the debt ceiling,” Coburn said, according to the World.
