Anthea Butler, everybody’s favorite Ivy League professor, blamed Republican racism for the government shutdown on Twitter.

Butler, a professor of religious studies at the University of Pennsylvania, said that Obama’s skin color is the reason Republican lawmakers have refused to fund Obamacare.

When another Twitter user suggested that race wasn’t a factor in the current situation, Butler responded: “You’d have to be blind to think that race does not play into this stupidity.”

Racism was not the only card in Butler’s deck. She also played sexism.

“Perhaps if the republicans would quit trying to regulate vaginas they could practice governance,” she wrote.

Her Tweets were first reported by Campus Reform.

Butler is known for diving mouth-first into controversy. Earlier this year, she cited George Zimmerman’s not-guilty verdict in the Trayvon Martin case as proof that God is a white racist. She also said that Republicans support gun rights as a means of keeping “brown people” at bay. She did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
