An Obama administration Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) official made a joke Monday out of news that a gunman has been sighted on the Yale University campus.

“DEVELOPING: Yale students and staff ordered to “shelter in place” following a report of a gunman on campus,” according to a USA Today tweet that Hamill saw posted to Facebook.

“Waitlisted…” replied John Hamill, a director of external affairs at FEMA, a division of the Department of Homeland Security.

Hamill has since deleted the message. When first reached for comment by The Daily Caller, Hamill denied that he sent the message, saying that I had the “wrong John Hamill. This is FEMA.”

“Nothing about waitlisting,” Hamill claimed.

Reached for comment a second time, Hamill admitted that he did indeed make the joke.

“I did put up a comment. It was not meant as an official comment,” Hamill said. “I just didn’t realize I had sent it from my work one…I’m going to delete.”

Hamill claimed that his initial denial was based on a “misunderstanding.”

The FEMA flack has also recently posted an article about a man nailing his testicles to the ground in Russia. He also remarked, “Another prudent reason to loathe clowns!” on his Facebook page in response to an article about a clown assassin.

The government employee also wrote about how Obamacare’s disastrous rollout will hurt Democrats’ electoral chances in 2014.

“Sorry does not begin to describe how careless and stupid this whole ACA rollout has been,” Hamill wrote on Facebook Nov. 8. “Will put the Senate in play and cost Dems any shot of House majority next year, which means the whole package could get criplled if not rescinded. Still, no one has been fired other than some hapless contractors who had no clear guidnace or empoerment to make it work. Truly scandalous.” [SIC]

UPDATE: “This was an insensitive comment posted to a personal Facebook account by a regional FEMA staff member and it does not reflect the viewpoint of FEMA or the U.S. Department of Homeland Security,” a FEMA spokesperson told The Daily Caller.
