Numerous outlets are reporting that “Up Late” host Alec Baldwin and MSNBC have parted ways.

Page Six’s Richard Johnson reports Baldwin had been dismissed from the network after struggling with low ratings and running into controversy after allegedly hurling a gay slur at a paparazzi photographer.

“The decision has been made. He’s gone,” an insider at the cable channel told Johnson. “The [parent company] Comcast guys have decided. Word is spreading through the building.”

A separate report in entertainment trade magazine Variety reports that in light of the controversy, the split is mutual.

“Sources close to the situation insist that Baldwin was not fired from the NBCU news cabler, but that the sides ‘mutually’ agreed to end the show in light of the dust-up,” Variety reported.

“Up Late” debuted on Oct. 11 in the 10 p.m. Friday slot on the left-leaning network.
