The Home Depot is teaming up with transportation-network company Uber to deliver Christmas trees to homes and offices on Thursday, Dec. 5 via the Uber smartphone app.
There’s no cash necessary – Uber users will receive a 7 to 8-foot wrapped tree complete with stand, along with an “Uber gift,” within minutes of ordering. The tree comes for$135, which will be charged to your Uber account.
The service will stretch across 10 U.S. cities, including Washington, D.C.
A Christmas tree icon will appear inside the app in select cities Thursday. Users just have to tap the icon and wait for a confirmation message – just make sure the ornaments are out of the attic and ready to go.
Users will then be treated to a photo of an Uber “ambassador” in a Santa hat — complete with a holiday name like Rudolph or Frosty — while they track their tree’s delivery in the app.
Deliveries will take place between 11 a.m. and 8 p.m. and quantities will be limited, so don’t get stuck doing the “fun old fashioned family Christmas” tree outing — start using Uber Thursday.
