Steam, the popular PC gaming platform, recently shipped 300 beta units of its long-rumored Steam Machine to developers, who spent the weekend posting videos of unboxing, tearing down, and playing the newest platform to enter the console war.

The test units shipped with the touchpad-equipped steam controller, WiFi unit, a USB drive with the Steam Operating System. Serious hardware specs include a 3.2GHz quad-core Intel i5 processor, GeForce GTX 780 graphics card with 3GB of video memory, ASRock Z87E-ITX motherboard, SilverStone ST455F power supply and 16GB of RAM.

Valve, the parent company of Steam, released the first out of a handful of Steam consoles from multiple developers expected to debut at the Consumer Electrics Show in 2014.
