White House put on lockdown as man tries to jump fence

UPDATE: The lockdown has ended, according to another pool report.

The White House was put on lockdown for a brief period on Friday afternoon after a man tried and failed to hop over the fence.

According to the White House pool report, from CQ Roll Call’s Steven T. Dennis, the man attempted to jump over the north fence with two bags.

U.S. Park Police and Secret Service Uniformed Division officers stopped him and preventing him from getting over the fence.

According to the pool report, police were on their way to screen the bags.

President Barack Obama traveled to Michigan on Friday and according to a travel pool report was on Air Force One and set to take off for Washington minutes before the incident occurred.
