Flick lives: Firemen have to detach Mass. middle schooler’s tongue from pole

In what was presumably an honorable response to a triple-dog dare, a middle schooler in Easthampton, Mass. got his tongue stuck to a metal pole on Wednesday morning.

The incident happened at about 8 a.m. at White Brook Middle School, reports local ABC affiliate WCVB.

Just like in the legendary scene in the 1983 movie “A Christmas Story,” when Flick gets his tongue stuck to a flag pole, the fire department showed up and everything.

David Mottor, Easthampton’s fire chief, noted that temperatures were well below freezing when the kid’s tongue became semi-permanently affixed to the cold metal pole.

The firefighters detached the student’s tongue from the pole using warm water.

The student suffered no physical injuries.

School officials have not released the name, age or gender of the student. (So, the student could have been female, but The Daily Caller highly doubts it.)

If you don’t know the classic scene from the 1983 movie (or if you just want to watch it again), here it is:
