Pot growers produce as much carbon as 3 million cars

U.S. marijuana growers are responsible for as much carbon emission as 3 million cars.

4,600 pounds of carbon dioxide are released into the atmosphere for every pound of marijuana grown indoors, according to federal government research and other studies cited by Mother Jones. Approximately 1/3 of the country’s marijuana is grown indoors.

In California alone, indoor marijuana growers use approximately 9 percent of the state’s household electricity while outdoor growers use 60 million gallons of water per day during growing season.

A device used to grow four marijuana plants indoors consumes 29 refrigerators’ worth of electricity.
