The Mama Grizzly is back.

Sarah Palin is making her first campaign appearance of the 2014 cycle for a female candidate running for the U.S. Senate in Georgia.

The former Alaska governor and 2008 vice presidential nominee is slated to campaign with Republican Karen Handel on Thursday morning at the Historic Green Manor Restaurant in Union City.

“We are excited and honored that Governor Palin chose to make her first appearance of the 2014 cycle for Karen Handel in Georgia,” campaign manager Corry Bliss said. “The grassroots excitement since Governor Palin’s endorsement has been tremendous. Since the endorsement last week, the campaign has raised well over $100,000.”

Palin will join Handel at the South Fulton Republican Women’s monthly meeting before joining her at a private fundraiser for the campaign afterward.

Handel is running in a competitive Republican primary in the Georgia Senate race. Others running include Reps. Paul Broun, Phil Gingrey and Jack Kingston and former Dollar General CEO David Perdue.
