Cenk Uygur fumes at Politico’s Dylan Byers: ‘What the f**k does that mean?’

In the ring: Cenk Uygur, host of the online news show The Young Turks, and Politico‘s media writer Dylan Byers. TV One’s Roland Martin jumped into the fray to defend Cenk, but was not one of the major fighters.

Reason for the fight: Byers has been among the media writers covering the debacle that is David Gregory‘s failure as host of NBC’s “Meet the Press” this week. Mediaite published a story Tuesday afternoon with Uygur declaring it game over for Gregory. In it, Uygur is quoted as saying, “Dude, read the writing on the wall, you’re a goner.” So Dylan went on Twitter and wondered why anyone’s quoting Uygur on anything. As you’ll note below, Uygur went after him, citing his success versus that of Politico. Cenk, who’s a little full of himself despite MSNBC squashing his 6 p.m. show in 2011 after only seven months on the job, seems to be overcompensating for something. He spent at least part of the day retweeting luscious compliments about himself, including one woman (I think, it’s hard to tell) who wrote, “I had a wet dream about @cenkuygur , I woke up feeling dirty & ashamed.”

Winner: Are there ever really winners in this sort of nastiness? Well, of course. In this case, it’s mostly Byers. All it took for him to needle Uygur was one solitary tweet and Uygur’s thin skin crawled all over the place. On the other hand, good for Uygur for  semi losing his shit and swearing at Byers for having the balls to publicly demean him. He didn’t just attack Byers, but the whole publication, and at least attempted to take Politico down a notch. Not convinced Uygur succeeded, but B+ for effort.
