Minnesota Vikings linebacker Chad Greenway came to the rescue of one lucky couple on Lake Minnetonka Monday.

The pair’s small boat had gotten stuck in record-high water levels when Greenway spotted them and immediately hopped in.

Crystal and Edward Alexis were taking their new boat for a spin when the steering wheel suddenly stopped working. They started drifting toward treacherous rocks when Greenway got involved.

“I just ran down, of course with my two little girls following behind me, trying to stay out of the way, and I figured I’d help them out,” Greenway told KARE. “It looked like it was dangerous. The waves are so big and the wind is so strong today that it pushed him right into the rocks, so we had to get him off the rocks, his prop cleared out of the rope, and get him turned in the right direction.”

Onlookers were impressed with Greenway’s quick action. After the save Greenway even drove the sopping wet couple back to their car and helped get their boat out of the water.
