CNN Self-Love: Network Cites History Of ‘Pushing Envelope’ On Interactive TV

CNN’s announcement on their upcoming town hall with Hillary Clinton is a lesson in competitive journalism.

They state that  CNN and Tumblr are joining forces to invite viewers worldwide to submit questions to Clinton for CNN’s upcoming Global Townhall early next week, moderated by chief international correspondent Christiane Amanpour.

Michelle Jaconi, executive producer of cross platform programming, made a point to heavily plug the network: “CNN has a history of pushing the envelope on interactive television, and this partnership with Tumblr continues the tradition of inviting the creativity of our audience to enrich our television event, and to inform our questioning.”

On a logistical note, viewers can submit questions – in any form (text, video, animated gif) – via CNN’s event Tumblr: They say Amanpour will pose the best of those q’s to Clinton during CNN’s live broadcast.

Later, more plugging for the network (bolding emphasis, mine): “Amanpour will moderate the only network televised town hall with former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton on Tuesday, June 17th at 5 pm ET.”

CNN will select the live audience that gets to attend.
