As they accuse the Obama administration of national security failures, former Vice President Dick Cheney and his daughter, Liz Cheney, said Wednesday they are forming a new political organization to “advocate for a restoration of American strength and power.”

In a video filmed in Wyoming, the Cheneys said the group will be called the Alliance for a Strong America. It has been formed as a 501(c)4 grassroots organization.

“Empty threats, meaningless redlines, leading from behind, retreat, and ‘engagement’ with rogue regimes have put America on a path of decline,” Dick Cheney said. “Threats to America are on the rise, and, yet, President Obama has repeatedly misled the American people about the attacks in Benghazi and the true nature of the threats we face.”

The former vice president will serve as chairman, while Liz Cheney will be the group’s president.

“We are forming the Alliance for a Strong America because we know America’s security depends upon our ability to reverse President Obama’s policies, “ Liz Cheney said. “We will provide information to citizens about security and defense policy, and lead the fight to restore American strength and power.”

As terrorists take over parts of Iraq, the duo took to the pages of The Wall Street Journal on Wednesday to rail against the Obama administration. “Rarely has a U.S. president been so wrong about so much at the expense of so many,” they said.

Liz Cheney is a former official at the State Department who briefly ran for the U.S. Senate in Wyoming this year before dropping out.
