Samsung news site Sam Mobile leaked the first photo of the company’s forthcoming virtual reality headset on Tuesday.

Samsung Gear VR Virtual Reality Headset

The “Gear VR” headset incorporates a modular design element intended for users to slide their Galaxy phones into the front. Gear VR will require a Galaxy phone in order to work, as the design doesn’t include motion sensors or a screen independent of the docked smartphone.

Gear VR also features a see-through button and touchpad on the side of the headset, which will allow users to view the outside world through their Galaxy’s rear-facing camera, and manipulate the phone’s functions through the touchpad.

Sam Mobile reports the Gear VR will be officially revealed with the Galaxy Note 4 handset during Berlin’s 2014 IFA consumer electronics show.

The headset will enter the emerging VR market dominated by the Facebook-acquired Oculus Rift and compete with other recent entires including Sony’s Project Morpheus and Valve’s own upcoming tech.
