Former congressman and Lt. Colonel Allen West was on Fox and Friends Monday morning and strongly condemned Hamas and protesters blaming Israel for the current conflict in Gaza.

“Hamas is a non-state, non-uniform belligerent terrorist organization,” West said. “Why would anyone want to side with an Islamic terrorist organization against a sovereign nation state?”

West noted that Israel sought peace when it gave Gaza to the Palestinians in 2005, but all they’ve gotten in return is “incessant rocket fire” and tunnels that terrorists use to infiltrate Israel.

“We would not tolerate that in the United States of America,” West said.

When asked by host Brian Kilmeade if Hamas’s support was waning in the Middle East, West said that Islamic organizations like ISIS are vying to replace secular governments there. He pointed to Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi as someone who is trying to stop those Islamic organizations.

“El-Sisi has stood up against the Muslim Brotherhood, he has cut off tunnels of Hamas,” West said. “We do have an ally in Egypt, but the sad thing is that you have an Obama administration that is withholding support to Egypt at this time, when it was supplying tanks and jets to the Mohammed Morsi Muslim Brotherhood government.”

The former congressman concluded by asking how a truce could be possible given Hamas’s desire to destroy the Jewish state and kill every one of Jewish descent.

“It just means that you’ll come back six months, a year from now and have to do this all over again,” West said. “We need to crush Hamas. We need to support Israel in doing that.”
