Teenager Breanna Mitchell tweeted a selfie of her smiling with the Auschwitz concentration camp in the background and is now, unsurprisingly, being harassed after it went viral.
She deleted the photo, which she posted in June, after it gained popularity, but not before it got over 3,000 retweets. She has continued to retweet every person who defends her picture, and after Business Insider wrote a story about the situation, she decided she is now famous.
People have continued to tweet her mixed messages, of support and disgust.
@thegusbus101 @sirbenhbowers @PrincessBMM so because atrocities happened she can’t smile there? Shit be damned you should never smile.

@PrincessBMM I just can’t believe all these people. I just wish I could respond to all these idiots. And thank all the ones who understand.

Mitchell claims she tweeted the picture because she studied the Holocaust with her father, who died last year, and the two had planned to travel to the concentration camp together.
