I don’t know much about Michigan Rep. Justin Amash, except that some people whose opinion I respect really hate his guts. After watching this, I guess I can see why.
After Republican U.S. Rep. Justin Amash beat challenger Brian Ellis in the Third Congressional District primary, he said Ellis’s campaign was “disgusting” and “despicable.”
Yikes.
I know this is a major breach of campaign etiquette…
- Two candidates rake each other over the coals for months, if not years.
- The winner and loser smile and shake hands and pretend it never happened.
- Repeat until the freaking end of time.
But I kinda like it. Just tell us how you feel, you arrogant, power-hungry narcissists. If you think your opponent is even worse than most politicians, if you think his or her behavior is outrageous, say so. Let us decide for ourselves whether or not we agree with you.
Hey, maybe I’m wrong. It’s been known to happen. What say you, Michiganders? Is Amash right, or is he just a big crybaby who can’t take “You win” for an answer? Little of both?
