According to the history books, President Richard Nixon, died in 1994 at the age of 81 after suffering a stroke, but, the 37th president of the United States remains alive and well on Twitter.
The account, @dick_nixon, which has over 7,400 followers, sends out tweets that capture the President’s voice. Neither parody nor completely serious, the account keeps up with current events and modern happens, but all from the view point of Nixon.
Unsigned tweets are supposedly from Nixon himself, but a few tweets come from his press secretary, Ronald Ziegler.
In life, and on social media, Nixon remains skeptical of reports and has a temper for those who disagree with him.
Justin Sherin, a playwright from New York City born years after Nixon left office, has run the account since 2008.
“I try very hard either to use something that he did say in a similar context or that I could argue he would have said when faced with such a situation,” Sherin said.
