Hundreds of people from Iraq’s Yazidi community gathered outside the White House Aug. 7 to plead for U.S. military aid and intervention, as the Islamic State’s jihad army enacts a rapid-fire genocide of their ancient community.

“We need safe zones for our people in northern Iraq,” pleaded Magdi Khalil, a spokesman for Coptic Solidarity, which is an alliance of Middle Eastern non-Muslim religious groups.

The group also asked that humanitarian support be sent to Yazidis who are trying to flee from the jihadi army. (RELATED: General: ISIS Is The Most Significant Threat To Middle East I’ve Ever Seen)

Up to 40,000 Yazidi men, women and children are trapped on a desert mountain, and are surrounded by jihadis who seized their home city of Sinjar in a lightning strike. Demonstrators told The Daily Caller that their relatives in Iraq watched jihadis kill many Yazidi men and sell many Yazidi women into slavery. The jihadi force is demanding that the Yazidi survivors convert to Islam or die, they said. (RELATED: Congressman Slams Obama For Ignoring Christian ‘Genocide’ In Iraq)

Their Yazidi city was captured when it was abandoned by its defense force of soldiers from the nearby Kurdish community. Kurds are Muslims, and have little respect for the non-Muslim Yazidi community, which is a subset of the pre-Christian, pre-Muslim Zoroastrian religion.

The Kurdish army is also under pressure, because the jihadi army is attacking Iraq’s semi-autonomous province of Kurdistan, because it is not a Muslim theocracy. (RELATED: ISIS: The World’s Next Al-Qaida)

A U.S. news service reported Aug. 7 that jihadi forces have advanced to a zone 40 miles from Kurdistan’s capital city of Erbil. (RELATED: Rep. Frank Wolf Shames Obama For Ignoring Genocide: ‘Your Conscience Will Haunt You’)

“The Kurdish army also needs support…. heavy weapons, air support, rockets, all kinds of weapons,” said Khalil.

The jihad army is attacking Christians and Yazidis in Iraq and Syria because of its “Muslim ideology,” said Khalil. “They give permit to kill all non-Muslim or to convert to Islam,” said Khalil. “This is very clear” in Islamic theology, he said. (RELATED: Iraqi Military Accused Of Executing Nearly 300 Sunni Prisoners)
