New York took the crown for Miss America for the third year in a row at the annual pageant in Atlantic City, N.J. on Sunday.
Miss New York Kira Kazantsev shared her talent of playing with a solo red cup to the beat of singing Pharrell’s song “Happy.” The cup routine was inspired by actress Anna Kendrick’s scene in the film “Pitch Perfect.”

Runner-ups to Miss New York included: Miss Virginia Courtney Garrett, Miss Arkansas Ashton Campbell, Miss Florida Victoria Cowen and Miss Massachusetts Lauren Kahn.
The judges for the competition were Kathy Ireland, Donald Driver (a former Green Bay Packer and “Dancing with the Stars” contestant), Brigadier Gen. Anne Macdonald, social media entrepreneur Gary Vaynerchuk and Miss America 1955 Lee Meriwether.
As the eliminations continued throughout the broadcast, there were plenty of ladies in bikinis “channeling their inner Beyonce.” (VIDEO)
Also, there was a lot of wearing white after Labor Day on stage during the evening gown portion of the event.
What you probably didn’t expect would happen this year at Miss America:

Notably during her performance, ABC misspelled author Jane Austen’s name.
