Apple users were outraged this week to find a free copy of U2’s latest album in their iTunes accounts, forcing the company to release a dedicated app to remove the music Apple purportedly paid $100 million to acquire.
For numerous iTunes users (particularly those absent from the band’s breakout success in the ’80s), that wasn’t enough — so Conan and Apple came up with a solution.
“Apparently to today’s youth, giving away a free album from one of the best bands of all time is like going to their house and taking a gigantic crap on their doorstep,” purported Apple “marketing V.P.” Marcus Pratt said on Thursday night’s show. “For these customers we are going a step farther…”
