BuzzFeed has taken it upon itself to harass the ridesharing service Uber, simply because the company hired a couple of attractive women to drive around its riders.

On Monday, Uber’s Lyon office unleashed a promotion, called “Avions de chasse,” where users could enter in a code and have a hot chick pick them up.

“‘Avions de chasse’ is the French term for ‘fighter jets,’ but also the colloquial term to designate an incredibly hot chick. Lucky you! the world’s most beautiful ‘Avions’ are waiting for you on this app. Seat back, relax and let them take you on cloud 9!”

It was accompanied by pictures of the potential drivers.

So, big deal. If riders have the option to be picked up by an attractive woman, let them.

But, BuzzFeed decided this was unacceptable, and penned the article, “Sexist French Uber Promotion Pairs Riders With ‘Hot Chick’ Drivers.”

The article calls the promotion sexist, said it has “icky disclaimers,” and that the company didn’t respond to BuzzFeed’s inquiry about the promotion. Warzel, the piece’s author, seems offended that a promotion, very bluntly advertising models as drivers, and uses pictures and videos of the models to advertise the service.

Seems like honest advertising to me.
