The Arizona Cardinals are the biggest surprise of the 2014 NFL season.
With an 8-1 record, the Cardinals have the best record in the NFL and lead defending Super Bowl champion Seattle by two games in the NFC West standings.
Part of Arizona’s success comes through drafting great young players, like running back Andre Ellington and defensive back Tyrann Mathieu.
The other part stems from Patrick Peterson being a straight-up beast.
Patrick Peterson breaks up the pass. Finds the football. And hits the pick-6. You should watch this. #STLvsAZ http://t.co/kk6SNrQkp2

That’s some pretty impressive body control.
Despite Richard Sherman’s self-proclaimed status as the best defensive back in the league, he’s not even the best corner in the NFC West.
Peterson is faster and stronger, and he covers receivers on both sides of the quarterback.
If I’m picking a DB to build a franchise around, I’m starting with Peterson, and based on the five-year, $70 million contract the Cardinals just gave him this offseason, Arizona feels the same way.
