Yes, it’s that time again: when information starts seeping out about what some believe is Washington, D.C.’s most vile weekend of the year — the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner. No offense against the association. They put on this shitstorm for a good cause — giving substantial scholarships to young people who want to be journalists. And the TIME-People party that delivers a 2,000-pound gift bag isn’t so bad.

But it is what it is — a weekend when Washington journos beg This Town‘s socialites to let them into their parties to mingle with Hollywood types who think brushing elbows with politicos will make them seem smart and interested in the world.

Cynicism aside, this year’s comedian is SNL’s Cecily Strong.

The news was announced by the WHCA president, Christi Parsons, the White House correspondent for LAT, The Chicago Tribune and the entire Trib chain.

In September, SNL announced that Strong would be taken off the “Weekend Update” desk and placed back into the general cast, which annoyed fans who liked her there. As reported by Rolling Stone at the time, she went on Instagram and told them to calm down. “No point in being angry or sad for me for something I’m genuinely happy about!” she wrote. “Unless you are just a person who enjoys being angry or sad. Then I guess play on, playa. Also, I danced too hard last night so now I am wearing a hot pad on my neck. Be angry and sad for me about my dumbass neck.”

Some fun facts about Strong (taken from Wikipedia):

* Her father was AP’s bureau chief.

* Celeb impressions include Sofia Vergara, Fran Drescher, Rachel Maddow and Megyn Kelly.

Please, let’s hope we at least get to hear those last two.
