Fox News host Chris Wallace said on “Happening Now” that he believed that Congress and a lot of the media were “trying to kick the CIA to the curb” in the wake of the Senate Intelligence report on the CIA’s use of enhanced interrogation on terror detainees. “The nomenclature is out there, they’re calling it the ‘torture report’ or ‘CIA torture’ in newspaper headlines,” said host Jon Scott. “It seems like in many ways in terms of the public perception, the CIA has already lost this battle. “

“Well, I don’t know,” Wallace responded, “I mean, it is lost certainly in the headlines of the paper, I’m not sure it lost it with public opinion. It will be interesting to see polling whether real people feel that what the CIA did was wrong or whether they think in the immediate aftermath of 9/11… these kinds of harsh interrogation methods were necessary.” (VIDEO: Chris Wallace Predicts ‘Calls For Impeachment’ Over Obama Executive Amnesty)

“I think you got it exactly right when you said what you’re going to hear from [CIA Director John] Brennan today is a very strong defense of the CIA and what it did,” he continued. “Among other things, you know, with Congress trying and a lot of the media trying to kick the CIA to the curb, I think Brennan feels it is very important that the Agency see that he is standing up for them.”
