In an effort to put the story to rest, Fox News’ Bill O’Reilly lashed out at Mother Jones’ David Corn and the left-wing media in his “Talking Points Memo,” which he released ahead of Friday’s edition of “The O’Reilly Factor.”

In his response, the Fox News host took Corn to task over his Thursday report that attempted to draw light to O’Reilly’s “inconsistent” war recollections during his coverage of wars in El Salvador and the Falkland Islands, which he covered from Argentina and Uruguay for CBS News.

O’Reilly cites multiple memos and correspondences between him and his bosses from his time at CBS, which praise his work from Buenos Aires while reporting on the war in the region.

However, after the Fox host relayed this information, he took out his frustration with the left-wing media for its “political hit job.”

In it, O’Reilly calls Corn a “liar” and “a far left zealot,” adding that Mother Jones is in the “business to injure.”

“They knew Corn was trying to take the Brian Williams situation and wrap it around my neck for ideological reasons — because he has a history of attacking Fox News,” O’Reilly said. “Corn must think the folks are as dumb as he is.”

The primetime heavyweight also took a swing at CNN’s Brian Stelter in the memo after CNN devoted an entire segment to the story. O’Reilly calls the CNN media reporter “another far left zealot masquerading as a journalist.”

O’Reilly’s comments Friday evening come after the host took the time to defend himself in multiple interviews with media outlets since the story appeared, including with TheBlaze’s Glenn Beck and radio host Hugh Hewitt, in which he called the story “bullshit” and Corn “an irresponsible guttersnipe.”

For what it’s worth, Corn has continuously defended the story in the face of O’Reilly’s denials.
