A top Obama administration staffer slut-shamed young women for the way they dress.

Molly Buford, who served as First Lady Hillary Clinton’s scheduler, a staffer for Joe Biden and John Edwards, an Obama Senate staffer and an Obama campaign staffer who was integral in picking Biden as running mate before taking her current job as the Treasury Department’s White House liaison, said something that would be considered very sexist by the very people that inhabit her little world.

“Must be summer in DC. Inappropriately dressed interns are everywhere,” Buford said in a June 9, 2014 tweet available on an online archive of old tweets.

In case you don’t speak Progressive-ese, “slut-shaming” is the process by which commentators make sluts feel ashamed of themselves for dressing inappropriately.

If I said something like that, there would be unity marches from the Washington Post building down to the woman suffrage monument.

If I said something like that, ESPN would be cutting away from the Duke-North Carolina game to hold a seminar on “Conservative Bigotry Among Reporters Who Watch College Basketball Sometimes.”

If I said something like that, Melissa Harris-Perry would be putting the wet sponge on my head while the Buzzfeed kids take turns switching on my electric chair.

How dare Molly Buford slut-shame young women coming to the nation’s capital to participate in the democratic process? Doesn’t she know that it gets hot in Washington in the summer? Doesn’t she know that you can only look at so many briefcase-toting Paul Giamatti lookalikes on the subway before you start to hate life?

What if 20-year-old Danish student-politician Nikita Klæstrup came to D.C. to intern? Would Molly Buford say that about Nikita Klæstrup?

For shame, Molly Buford. For slut shame.
