A group of bullies teased Desiree Andrews, an eighth grade cheerleader with Down Syndrome, from the stands during a basketball game at a Wisconsin middle school.

But they got the attention of someone else instead: the basketball team.

Scooter Terrien, Miles Rodriguez and Chase Vasquez walked off the court during the middle of a timeout during their game. The three said they heard some people in the crowd picking on Andrews, and stepped forward to tell them to cut it out, the local news station reports.

“It’s not fair when other people get treated wrong because we’re all the same,” Terrien said.

“We’re all created the same. God made us the same way.”

Coach Brandon Morris said that the rest of the team then stood up for Andrews, who called it “sweet, kind, awesome, amazing.”

The team nows refers to the gymnasium as “Dee’s House,” and the athletic director said the school plans on making it official with a banner.
