Hillary Clinton may be getting rave reviews from many in the establishment media, but don’t count Ruth Marcus among them.

In an appearance on Iowa Public Radio Monday morning, The Washington Post columnist panned the former secretary of state’s campaign announcement, calling it a “Verizon ad without the substance” and “insultingly substance-free.”

“My version is Verizon ad without the substance. I understand why they did it this way, but I really didn’t like it,” Marcus told host Tom Ashbrook.”I thought it was relentlessly and slightly insultingly substance-free.”

“I know we’re going to get a lot of substance in the campaign and I know an announcement is video is not supposed to be a seminar from the Brookings Institution, but golly gee. Is that really what America wants to see?” Marcus continued.
