In the words of the immortal Tom Petty, “the waiting is the hardest part.”
Indeed it is, and MSNBC’s Chris Hayes found that out the hard way Tuesday when he showed up to take bundles of hard-hitting questions from his #Inners as part of his weekly Facebook Q&A — and there literally were none.
As noted first by the Washington Free Beacon, Hayes was met with silence when he showed up for his standing noon-12:30 p.m. Q&A session (on the dot) to take questions from his few and far between viewers.

Hayes (or his team) had teased the Q&A twice over the past 24 hours, including once 90 minutes before the chat was set to start.
Eventually, as his Facebook fans arrived from their comatose state, Hayes took their questions on the GOP’s 2016 field and behind the scenes happening at the Lean Forward network as he sat at the Apple store and waited for his iPhone to get fixed.
However, he should probably cherish his time with his Facebook fans as he seems set to meet the same fate as former MSNBC hosts Ronan Farrow and Joy Reid.
Hayes’ struggles in the ratings game continued last week as he pulled in MSNBC’s lowest prime time numbers in the highly-coveted 25-54 demographic every night, averaging only 90k viewers per night. By contrast, Hayes’ competitors Bill O’Reilly (FNC) and Anderson Cooper (CNN) pulled in 428k and 138k viewers per night, respectively.
