Since when does the New York Times have tweens handling its Twitter feed?
On Monday afternoon they tweeted about Taylor Swift.
Here’s how they tackled news about her.
They also took a chop (pun intended) at cutting timber in Central Park.
Reaction to their pre-teenage tweeting style is generally not positive.
“Blocked and reported,” remarked Ben Leubsdorf, son of USA Today‘s Susan Page and Carl Leubsdorf.
And “delete this website immediately,” said Jeremy Zimmerman, a freelance journalist in Philadelphia. Another had this advice: “Log off off off off off.”
Still another mocked them with a comparably creative response. “But your tweet was very lame lame lame lame lame Knock it off, knock it off (Hoo-hoo-hoooo).”
Adam Singer, an analytics advocate for Google, tried to put the NYT in its place. “This account has jumped whatever shark it hasn’t yet. Seriously guys you are the New York Times not BuzzFeed.”
The power duo Twitter team for the NYT appears to be Tayla Minsberg and Michael Gold.
Even Joel Siegel, managing editor for NY1 had guidance for the pub.
In the end, Gold faux submitted his farewell letter.
The Mirror sought comment from the now infamous tweeters Minsberg and Gold.
