This week’s female high school teacher busted for allegedly having sex with and exchanging raunchy nude photos with a male student is Megan Clough.
Clough, 29, is a special education teacher at Mountain View High School in rural Susquehanna County, Pa., reports local ABC affiliate WNEP-TV.
Police say Clough had sex with an unidentified 18-year-old student and also sent the requisite nude Snapchat photos to him as part of the whirlwind romance.
Snapchat is a popular social media app which is supposed to send photos to recipients chosen by the sender and then, after a specified amount of time, dissolve the photos into the Internet ether.
For whatever reasons, things didn’t work out that way for Clough, though.
Several students ended up seeing photos of the teacher in her unrobed splendor, police say.
After receiving a tip from a parent and a subsequent investigation, police arrested Clough on Friday on a single charge of institutional sexual assault.
“I guess I had feelings for [him],” Clough told state police. She said she and the student had sex just the one time, according to WNEP.
Students at Mountain View High weren’t particularly shocked by the arrest.
“People had heard about it,” senior Blake Reed told local CBS affiliate WYOU. “When it came in to the news nobody was really surprised. We had all already known.”
A local parent said she thinks it’s a bad idea for teachers and students to have sex romps.
“That whole relationship requires specific boundaries and trying to keep those boundaries is where it can get kind of difficult,” the parent, Trena Hedges, told WNEP.
Clough posted bail. She and her family members opted not to speak to local media.
Her current job status is unclear.
Police said they are withholding the 18-year-old male student’s name because they consider him a victim.
Under Pennsylvania law, institutional sexual assault is a minor felony.
Clough graduated from high school at a school located just 15 miles or so from the taxpayer-funded school where she has been employed.
She is a 2008 graduate of the flagship campus of Penn State. Her cumulative grade-point average was 3.85 and she made the dean’s list each semester, according to the Susquehanna Transcript, a local newspaper.
The paper noted that she has been active in local cheerleading.
The allegations against Clough are reminiscent of the charges against Tiffany Leiseth, another Pennsylvania high school teacher. Leiseth, 26 at the time, was a long-term substitute English teacher arrested for having sex with two 18-year-old male students and giving them some beer inside her home while her husband was out of town on business.
