The award-winning actor who played mobster Moe Greene in “The Godfather” died Sunday. He was 79.
Alex Rocco’s daughter Jenny announced his death in a Facebook post on Sunday, saying “cancer took her father” at his Los Angeles home.
“I miss my Dad so much I know he is around myself and my son, thank you all the love outpourings have helped lift his soul, mine, his grandson and the rest of his family,” she wrote. “I have not stopped tears streaming down my face since last night, thank you everyone.”
Though Rocco played over 160 roles and won an Emmy for “The Famous Teddy Z,” it was his role in “The Godfather” that he credited with his fame. He played Moe Greene in the film, a mobster who owned a Las Vegas casino.
“Every time I ever hear the theme from ‘The Godfather,’ I always say, ‘Thank you, God,'” Rocco said once during an interview. (RELATED: B.B. King, ‘The King Of Blues,’ Has Died)
