GOP presidential hopeful has had some choice words to say about former Texas Governor Rick Perry in the past few weeks. Trump said the former governor, “put on glasses so people will think he’s smart. And it just doesn’t work! You know people can see through the glasses!”
But Trump said very different things about the former governor back in 2011 and 2012 and Perry’s team decided to remind the world of these past statements Tuesday.
Back in September of 2011 and January of 2012, Trump was singing a different tune, on social media at least. Perry’s campaign staff used their official Twitter account to retweet three of Trump’s old tweets about Perry.
Individually those tweets are:
Texas is lucky to have him— @GovernorPerry is a great guy!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) January 19, 2012
Rick Perry–a good man, a great family and a patriot.

And from September of 2011:
Rick Perry is right when he says we must stand by Israel in the UN.
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) September 21, 2011
Trump’s most recent tweet about Perry gives no hint of the praise in the past:
Rick Perry did an absolutely horrible job of securing the border. He should be ashamed of himself. Gov. Abbott has since been terrific.
